The Importance of Changing Your Passwords
This is just a simple, blog post with an important message to remember. Change your passwords!
About an hour ago, it was reported that a Russian hacker was able to compromise LinkedIn. About 6.5 million passwords were stolen. So, stop reading this blog (don't close the page), open up a new browser window, and then change your password on LinkedIn.
I know a lot of people that use one password for all of their sites, just for ease of logging in. If you are one of those people, I would change the passwords on those sites as well! I've seen a number of different survey results on how many people do this, including a 2011 report from the Privacy Council saying 71% of people use the same password for everything1! If a hacker is smart enough to beat LinkedIn, they are smart enough to know this stat as well.
Make sure that you change your passwords, and change them on a regular basis, to help stay one step ahead of the hackers out there.
